3. What fandoms do you write for? I've mostly written drarry. I'd started as a pynch writer (TRC) and lately I've written a bunch in other fandoms.

5. Do you respond to comments? I do my best. I made a decision back when I posted a lot of stuff and got more comments than I could handle that I would only reply to the comments on the last chapter of a multi-chapter fic. Other than that, I try my best to reply to everyone.

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? I wrote a Major Character Death fic (The Death You Carry). Can't get angstier than that.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? Most of my fics end happy, but now that I think of it they're mostly HFN in romance-genre speak. Happy For Now aka the fic ends with them as a couple, kissing or touching for example, the Ever After is implied but not explicit. Two fics which end with H/D living together, and thus more committed to each other, are Hush, darling and The Boy Who Died. These are also angstier than my other fics, which makes the happy ending sweeter imo.

8. Do you get hate on fics? Not hate per se. I've received demanding comments ("Can you write more? Another sex scene? And make it mpreg?") or comments like "I like your story but I can't read on because you have X topping". Not hate. There was a time, though, that I got several comments about how stupid/annoying/an arsehole Harry is, which reflect an attitude I used to see in fandom, where Draco is perfect and Harry is a bumbling fool and the minute he says something sharp to Draco he becomes an arsehole and should be screamed at. Needless to say, I hate this kind of interpretation. I deleted a couple of these comments, I just couldn't have them on my page. It was the reason I de-activated comments on all my fics for some time.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? The sexy kind, I hope LOL

Serious answer: I have written explicit sex scenes, although I tend to be more vague rather than write a play-by-play description of what is happening. I mean, there is some of that, but not as detailed as it can be. I don't know how to explain it better in English, sorry. Anyhow, I love sex scenes, I love reading them, I enjoy the challenge of writing them, and I think what I like best in what I read (and thus I try to emulate) is when a sex scene reveals the emotional state of these two people rather than just say whose dick does what.

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written? I haven't! A couple of years ago I got a few asks about wangxian and drarry meeting up and although it was fun to reply to the asks and imagine how it would take place, I don't think I'll ever write it.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? Someone screenshot dnab and posted it on instagram. The whole 40k fic. If there have been others, I don't know.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated? Yes, a few.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? I haven't and I'm not sure I could. I don't think my writing process would lead to successful collaborations. If I were to imagine it, the easiest for me would be that each writer has their own POV (I'd write Draco, the other person Harry, for instance) and we'd have a general idea but not a strict outline and we'd write it like a relay race: I'd post something, they'd write the next part, then me etc.

14. What’s your all time favorite ship? I tend to move on from fandoms, so it used to be pynch, then drarry, now wangxian. I don't have a lot of time for fandom these days so I'm not as obsessed with a ship as I used to be. I love all my babies equally.

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? I started a fic with a magical university of sorts, or rather 8th year but they'd be more like uni students than normal school students, and Draco was a Veela whose mate was Astoria. Not sure where it would all go, but well--it won't go anywhere now, because I have so many other WIPs that take precedent.

16. What are your writing strengths? I'm decent at dialogue and I've been told my fics have great atmosphere. Occasionally I write an unusual turn of phrase and people comment on that. My fics are fairly short, but I've been told that they have a lot more story than the reader expected because of the word count, and I think that's because I edit ruthlessly.

17. What are your writing weaknesses? Plotting is my main problem. I pants my stories and it takes me forever to figure out what happens next. I also lack confidence and doubt everything while writing, which isn't a writing weakness exactly, but it does affect my writing.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? It's cool. I like it.

19. First fandom you wrote for? The Raven Cycle. I was mad about pynch.

20. Favourite fic you’ve written? Currently 9 ½ Days but I have a very, very soft spot for The Boy Who Died.

One and a half years after the war, Draco Malfoy shows up to the Burrow for Christmas.

I am feeling so emo about finally publishing this wip—it's what I got back into writing to write & what a way to celebrate two whole years writing Harry/Draco. I truly am so grateful for this community and feeling so tender putting something a bit raw & a bit unfinished up.

As always, it takes a village. @mallstars and @queermccoy looked at an early draft of this over a year ago, and provided invaluable and gentle feedback about what needed to change—and they were fucking right & I deleted 30k of this monster, and it's immeasurably better for it. @sleepstxtic, @thecouchsofa, @hoko-onchi-writes, and @elskanellis betaed this fic so thoroughly and kindly, and it's tighter and cleaner and funnier and punchier for them! thank you thank you thank you to everyone who helped with this one.

Harry thought about how fucking unfair it was that Malfoy—Malfoy, who stomped on his nose while he was petrified; Malfoy, who called Hermione a Mudblood and the Weasleys poor blood-traitors; Malfoy, who averted his gaze from Lucius and said, “I can’t be sure”—could get to have the warmth of Molly and Arthur.

Traitorously, Harry’s brain also interjected how awful Malfoy looked, how he didn’t have anyone else in the world right now. How awful Harry must have looked to Molly and Arthur and the rest of the Weasleys when they met him on Platform Nine and Three Quarters, or rescued him from his barred bedroom at the Dursleys. How fucking awful it would have been if Harry had been welcomed into their warmth, only to be thrown out again, back to starving, back to no one.

He swallows, his throat suddenly dry. “How am I looking at you, exactly?” Like I want to bare my throat for you? Like my blood would look very pretty on your lips? Like your teeth could tear me apart and I’d say thank you?

Regulus’ mouth parts just a fraction, as he, apparently, catches on. “Oh, you can’t be fucking serious.”

“Not the brother I’m aiming for—”

“Shut up.”

James’ mouth clamps shut. He can be very obedient sometimes. Especially when it involves Regulus.

“Don’t tell me—” Regulus pinches the bridge of his nose, closing his eyes for a second, “—that you’re into this?”

There’s a beat. A pretty long one that grows heavier as Regulus opens his eyes again, pinning James in place with them. James' throat bobs. Oh, yeah now they’re really piercing him. Slicing right through him, if you will.

James winces. “I mean, ah, I can tell you that if you want. I can tell you that, sure.” He scratches the back of his head, looking up at Regulus with his best innocent wide eyes that he hopes will make him melt. They usually work. Well at least, they do on Sirius. That’s not even to mention Remus who pointed his finger accusingly at him once and berated him for using this as a manipulation tactic. “But I’d be lying?”

It doesn’t really work. Regulus doesn’t melt at all, not even a smidge—in fact, he stiffens.

✨ 2024: Year in Review

I got tagged by @sitp-recs and @wolfpants, thank you, loves! 2024 was not great for me: I got a new job which means much less time for fandom. I read less, created less, had to stop QQR halfway through the year, didn't make any reclists. I wish to change that in the new year and make more time for what brings me joy despite being busy IRL. On a more positive note, I got closer with fandom friends and made new ones. I feel like I have a space here and that makes me very happy. I made art and wrote (at least) microfics. I co-modded two excellent fests. That's not nothing; so with that in mind - happy new year everyone. May it bring you everyhting you wish for.

Unfortunately I had to drop out of @hd-erised this year due to being flakier than a 99p* cone, but that didn't cut short my Erised journey because I had the pleasure of betaing 3 absolutely stellar fics that I want to scream about from the rooftops. Listed in alphabetical order, because each is as excellent as the next and they all hold a very special place in my cold heart.

Thank you so much to my lovely pals who let me feel like I was taking part in the fest even when I wasn't. I'm very lucky indeed. 🖤

In a Year's Turning by @hoko-onchi-writes is not only a gorgeous rekindled-romance by way of delicately mending the tears in a relationship so romantic, so beautifully feelsy and tender (and hot, my god is it hot), but at its heart it's an emotional and important exploration of parenthood and family and what it feels like to watch your child grow up as the magical, wonderous but also at times unsympathetic and cruel world moves too quickly around them and you. I got so choked up reading this for Hoko, so many times. A beauty of a fic. The Melting Point of Wax by @oknowkiss is a riot of originality and sexiness and holy popes racing around the Vatican on broomsticks? Honestly sometimes I just want to crawl right into Elaine's big, wonderful mind and have a poke around in there, their ideas are like nothing I've ever seen cooked up anywhere else, and what's more, they're always translated so sharply; Elaine's writing is full of life and wit, and at the centre there's always the tender heart I so crave when it comes to Drarry, just thrumming and constant and waiting to be uncovered fully. Really fucking great, this one. The Pain From an Old Wound by @citrusses had me gasping for more every time Lor updated the doc. This is a grown-up, swoon-worthy, gothic-tinged romance weaved with clever magic theory, outstanding dialogue, and a romantic Drarry history (and reunion) that feels absolutely lived-in and achy but also really fun as we get to see the two exes snark back and forth (jealousy. my. beloved.) as they come together to work through Harry's crisis. Gorgeously rendered, elegant prose.

I can't wait to dig into the fics I've not gotten around to reading yet. This year's fest has been an absolute banger!

welp! here it is. the sad fic that's been brewing in my head for two stinking years. thank you so much to (in no order) a) @hd-hurtcomfort-fest for providing a space for this fic, b) @citrusses for the heroic beta, c) @wolfpants @hoko-onchi-writes @eveningstruggle @dumbledoodlewriting @eggbagelsjr for your encouragement as i kept running up against the inside of my own skull during the writing, d) everyone who has read so far. as i mentioned in my a/n, this fic is largely inspired by lived experience, and words cannot express how meaningful all of your comments have been over the past month. it is, generally speaking, terrifying to put your writing out there, even more so when the writing is a torn out piece of your heart. your comments have touched me deeply. may we all heal our wounds together.

finally, because i'm incapable of being this vulnerable for too long, i'd like to share that during research for this fic i learned that hyacinths are (possibly? definitely?) named after hyacinthus, who was one of apollo's astoundingly beautiful lovers. hyacinthus tragically died when apollo beaned him in the forehead with a frisbee, and it is said that the hyacinth grew out of his blood. if the reality of this fic hurts too much, just pretend one of them dies from frisbee instead.

It was a late morning on a day Carlos had off before TK and his team went to work at the private ambulance company. TK had kissed him awake sweetly, murmuring sleepy words of adoration into his skin before seductively whispering into his ear that his dad and Mateo had gone to work, and that he should fuck him into the mattress until he screamed. He proceeded to do just that, and was enthusiastically mid thrust into a moaning, panting, red-faced TK when Owen flung the bedroom door open with a cheerful greeting, two peanut butter banana smoothies and an excited Buttercup who bounded into the room and flung himself onto the bed, licking all over Carlos’s mortified face.

“He said he didn’t see anything.”

“My ass was in the air and your legs were slung over my shoulders,” he says flatly. “He saw.”
